- 解釈：寺の門前に住む子は、聞き覚えてお経を読む。普段見聞していると、自然と覚えるものであるというたとえ。
- Literal：The boy of the front of a gate reads the sutras which are not learned.
- Interpretation：It is learned automatically that it is getting acquainted usually.
- 類義：勧学院（かんがくいん）の雀は、蒙求（もうぎゅう）を囀る（さえずる）。智者の辺（ほとり）の童（わらわ）は、習わぬ経を読む。
- 反義：習わぬ経は読めぬ。
